Backroad Tales is a quiet record of travelling the roads that sit beyond the highway.

We take the long way through country towns and open landscapes, documenting what we find with photographs and short written reflections. These are roads shaped by time rather than traffic — places where history lingers and the pace slows naturally.

This site is not about destinations or itineraries. It’s about noticing what remains: grazing paddocks, weathered buildings, long distances, and the stories carried by lesser-used roads. Backroad Tales is an ongoing collection of those journeys, recorded carefully and shared without hurry.
